Passage 1: The Mysterious Island

One sunny morning, a group of friends, Maya, Ben, and Sarah, were exploring the nearby forest. They stumbled upon a hidden clearing with a peculiar tree unlike any they had seen before. The tree had vibrant purple leaves and silver bark that shimmered in the sunlight. Curious, they decided to investigate further. As they approached the tree, a gentle breeze filled the air, carrying the sweet scent of unknown flowers. Suddenly, the ground beneath them began to shake, and the tree trunk started to spin. Before they could react, they were whisked away in a whirlwind of leaves and colors.

When they opened their eyes, they found themselves on a strange island. Lush green vegetation surrounded them, with exotic birds singing in the distance. The beach was made of soft, golden sand, and the ocean sparkled like a giant turquoise jewel. They were amazed and a little scared at the same time.

Passage 2: The Clever Crow

A crow was very thirsty on a hot summer day. He flew from place to place searching for water, but all the ponds and streams were dry. Exhausted and desperate, he spotted a pitcher half-filled with water in a farmyard. He landed near the pitcher and peered inside. Unfortunately, the water level was too low for him to reach with his beak. He thought for a moment and then came up with a clever plan. He picked up small pebbles lying around the pitcher, one by one, and dropped them into the water. As he dropped each pebble, the water level rose slightly. After dropping enough pebbles, the water level was high enough for him to drink comfortably.
